Billy Joel may be a legend, but he's not afraid to give props to artists who have been around decades fewer than he has. https://t.co/TgV0Ik4SlS

Ya know what, I’m not gonna disagree. I’m not a fan of Taylor, but the Beatles were also just creating pop music of their time, and tbh their status is fairly comparable 🤷‍♀️

Same. They both appeal to white bread audiences but they’re both talented at what they do, and yes perhaps even overrated (and I am a TS fan) But I do think they’re comparable for what they’ve done for their generations.

hmm this is a hot take. i wouldn't know who the beatles of this generation would be anyways. my first thought wouldn't be taylor, but i couldn't be able to name anyone to fit that description.

she definitely made her impact on music. argue with your mom, but she made country music listen and respect teenage girls again.

This I would agree with. You can't compare a solo female artist with a boy band.

all those bands back then got praised to the high heavens for their alleged creativity when all they were doing was stealing from lesser known non-white artists, and they need to get dragged

his controversial comparison aside lmao, its nice to see an older man & legend praise young women for their talent and call out the general public's hate for anything related or loved by teenage girls.

Right? He’s not wrong with that comment. So many people like to treat any artist that is loved by young girls as not a ~true artist

i agree. and he didn’t disparage her contemporary female pop artists either - “she’s not like those other pop stars nowadays” - so honestly ill take it even though I disagree with it lol
