folks on reddit believe that kathy being on rhobh this season was PR since paris's doc revealed that she went to those places.

every so often i go down a rabbit hole reading about them. it's fascinating and horrifying.

I was watching this earlier and it made me think of a talkshow episode years ago where a mother sent her daughter to one of those camps and it was outside the country and they were having trouble getting her back. Good for her for speaking out.

parents spend money to have their "troubled" teen (aka they may party too much or drink too much or perform delinquent petty crimes) to these places to "fix them" basically. many of these places treat their teens with highly abusive measures and they do more harm than good.
