They both look biracial, even in black and white.

They do, but I totally see why they went with the black and white. It feels like a metaphor.

I already like Rebecca Hall as an actor, so I am looking forward to seeing her work as a director, plus it's got a great cast.

Exactly this. Her performance in Christine will haunt me for the rest of my life

I’m scared to watch that movie honestly.

I was too! And I haven’t seen it since even though her performance is one of my favorites ever. I’ve dealt with depression for most of my life and the film’s depiction of Christine’s state of mind really resonated with me. Definitely not a light watch but in a way it was comforting to see some of my own experiences outside of myself and feel a level of sympathy and care that I don’t always extend to myself, ya know?

They got biracial actresses for roles that are specifically intended for them. It's really been irking me that when you see Black actresses in prominent roles these days they are more than likely to be mixed. They've become the standard. The go-to when casting roles intended for Black women. I have a lot of feelings about this topic. 😅

it's not just "these days" though, lighter skinned actors have always been given prominent roles.

That's true. My line of thought however is that they are exclusively using biracial actresses. Just because someone is light-skinned doesn't mean they are mixed.

oh for sure, my point was more generalized and not specific to biracial actors/actresses.
