I only had the basic channels when I was young and I lived for Buffy on BBC2. I would get so frustrated when it got pre-empted for other stuff.

Yeah in retrospect it seemed to be on pretty early on BBC2 considering the nature of the show. I remember the new eps were on Sky One for sure because I used to tape it and give the tapes to my english teacher as she didn't have Sky lol.

It would air first on Sky and then it'd hit the BBC - once in a tea time slot where it was heavily edited, then there'd be a later night uncut re-run

I remember it moving and that being a big deal, but I don't remember any of these promos. And I was pretty into the show and reading lots of entertainment media at the time.

These make me feel so old. I remember the WB being shady with that 'series finale' stuff. And how distinctive the red Buffy Lives poster was. I would love a little print of that, come to think of it ( ... )

It never called Xander out because Xander was Joss Whedon's self insert character

Xander feeling like the powerless and threatened human he was is what set him off. He was more disgusting about Buffy and Spike and was almost always pretty terrible to Anya.

Yeah, I hate Xander so much and his never getting called out on his bullshit really dates the show. He's the epitome of annoying guy who can't stand being less than the people around him but especially less than the women around him so he's a cruel, vindictive, selfish jerk. Annoying little self-insert weasel.
