The Princess Diaries is a great little family movie (I think it holds up so well!) and in my opinion Anne Hathway was perfectly cast

Now, as someone who loved the books Julie Andrews was the wrong casting choice. Grandmere was just the rudest, most miserable person in the books lmao. Like a Lucille Bluth type of character.

I was about to be horrified at the prosect of Julie Andrews being a wrong casting choice but wow she does not fit that description at all. I guess once they got queen Julie they completely changed the direction of that character.

That gif is the whole reason I refused to watch the movie when it came out. Still haven't watched it tbh. I spent so much of my childhood looking like that, minus the glasses, that to see it viewed as "ugly" that one more time pissed me off too much.

Same for me. I refuse to watch anymore "curly hair is ugly" shows. And also I have freckles and scars too, I don't feel like dealing with watching something that is going to tell me I'm ugly the whole time.

Anne was so perfect in it. I can't imagine anyone else and everyone else was really good in their roles too. And her friendship with lilly was so cute.
