i have this in my watch later so that i may savor at the end of the week. john oliver hasn't let me down yet, but any non-black person talking about the politics of black hair makes me very wary.

Like OP said, it was definitely awkward for me to listen to a white man present this information while I watched last night but I’m guessing it made it more palatable for his white viewers and that was probably the point.

Yes. It sucks that white people can only really absorb info if it comes from another white person. White people have been living along side black people forever yet they know nothing about us.

My mom is a cancer survivor yah and cleaning out her hair cabinet, she wouldn't let me give her jar of blue magic away, the big family jar.

I just bought that! Ahh in 2019! Well her hair is coming back and she has a little ace comb and her grease in 2021 😏 cute little curls coming in.

When I did press my hair it was years using electric ones, we had nothing but electric stoves.

We finally got a gas stove again but the whole house went natural.
I'm now using a glass stove- evil.
My little ears built up scar tissue it's like a little bump every time, even when I held them on the let go it would get nipped. Oh It's Steam Stop Crying.
