I saw her nom and laughed! I mean, it's not a surprise - the Academy always has to throw in at least one totally bizarre nom, I'm just glad it wasn't Meryl Streep for The Prom.

I like Glenn Close, I just wish she'd pick better projects.

I like Glenn as well, but I can't imagine that a ton of hot scripts are crossing her desk for a 73 year old woman in Hollywood.

I think Glenn always had one single problem. Meryl Streep. Same age, same range, kinda lookalikey. Only that Meryl was there a minute before Glenn and is a tad more attractive in a non-threatening way. They are friends, but that must have been quite challenging for Glenn, always getting the roles that Meryl didn't want.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I feel like most actors know the handful of people that they're always in competition with but when you're a woman of that era it's hard when you basically have a much more successful and celebrated double.

I do think Meryl was gorgeous in her 20s/30s, though. But she's also aged incredibly.

are they just throwing her one b/c she's never won before? if so i feel bad for all the other nominees in that category, they don't deserve to lose for a "sorry we overlooked you for decades" oscar
