Anybody urging them to speak out is clearly naive or blind to the fact that, guess what? They don't give a shit! They're fine with this! It's not as if they haven't heard the news, they're purposely not saying anything because they support Joss. Anything they did say at this point would be bullshit.

Everything you need to know about how Alyson and David feel has already been said with how they conducted themselves after this whole thing broke. Alyson went about posting IG stories and going on with her life clearly ignoring the calls for comments and all David did was like some posts that vaguely indicate some sort of support then simultaneously wipe his and his wife social media platforms. What more do people really want other than that?

Do we really need to know also what Whedon thinks or has to say? He has said and done enough. He doesn't owe us shit, (if anything, we are owed time back for the shit he has subjected us to), no apology is ever going to ring true and if he hasn't privately reached out to make amends to the people he's hurt, he's never going to do anything that can truly help the people he hurt heal. The best thing this SOB can do is disappear into the ether and never to be heard from again.

Those non-committal comments are also just so forced and more annoying than anything. It's all "I didn't really see anything but good for her for speaking up."Good on you for having a spine and showing empathy, buddy!

Anthony Head's response remains to be the most empathetic one of the bunch and even that wasn't the greatest.

The most I can hope for is that the scum out there will think twice before they pull some kind of stupid shit. But even that is kind of futile since abusers are also very arrogant in thinking it will never happen to them. Their time will never come.

The one thing I'll give Anthony some tiny leeway on is that I imagine he's in the period of replaying every memory in his head and dissecting them to see if they're not what he thought they were. But I'm also probably seeing this through some bias on my end because I'm going through something with a family member where I'm trying to determine if stuff I've noticed recently is actually a change in the person, or if there were things I missed this whole time, and it's fucked with my head a lot to try and piece together.

Are these update posts okay or are y'all already sick of them?
I feel like there have been too many. At this point there isn't any new information, I understand doing an update post with statement of others who worked on the show but this post doesn't have anything that was not in the prior ones. It is probably just me though. Marilyn Manson is an abusive POS and we got one post about it, but have had about 5 on Joss/BtVS.

If people are comfortable enough to speak out, great but not everyone wants to or should be forced to do so. Yeah, some people have not said anything but they also have not defended Joss. It has been mentioned a bunch David's twitter was private already.

There have been several posts about Marilyn Manson though?

I must have missed them. I legitimately saw one post about him. I just keep seeing the Joss Whedon & Britney documentary ones I guess.

There are 10 posts in his tag, so yeah, you missed quite a few. If you only keep noticing Joss & Britney posts, it's not on us or the people posting about those topics.

Of course I want CC and other survivors to have support and justice, but I don't see how fans demanding statements from specific actors accomplishes much of anything. Just keep Whedon's reputation in the toilet where it belongs.

IA. People shouldn't do a good thing bc they were pressured to, they should do it bc it's the right thing.

Exactly. It’s the same with Justin Timberlake. People are like, “He needs to say something” and then he does and it’s, “Too late! No one cares!” Like, why bother either way?

Demanding people to comment who aren’t forthcoming with their own response is so bizarre to me. The court of public opinion seems to think they can subpoena everyone who’s ever been involved in something to share their story, but some people either don’t care to or feel no need to. That’s their deal. We’re not owed every detail. Let’s focus one the story/victims/issues we do know.

I get the same weird feeling when a celeb dies and people demand everyone who’s ever worked closely to them to make a public statement. Like, shit...they’ll make one if they want to.

I'm not sure if fans pushing them to make a comment about it is a good idea. If they want to comment on this, they will, if they don't, a comment will just feel forced and fake and won't necessarily be genuine.

Also, they're still people and with situations like this there's always a chance that somebody's going through something in their personal life and that's why they're not immediately commenting on this. Idk how likely that is, I'm not a Buffy fan and I don't know those people, but it's not impossible.

The “you’re a good person if you say something, you’re a bad person if you don’t” mania whenever something like this happens makes me so uncomfortable. I get why people want to come out with strong statements but we genuinely don’t know what’s going on with these peoples lives, how they’re processing, if they reached out in private etc.

Plus it makes the whole thing read like a spectacle/horse race.

It makes me really uncomfortable too. Kind of reminds me of how everybody kept hounding Jennifer Lawrence about Weinstein.

It always comes with a current of “who was mistreated/abused etc and who obviously wasn’t” speculation which is gross. Even very woke ONTD is engaging in it which just makes me wary.
