I'm not sure if fans pushing them to make a comment about it is a good idea. If they want to comment on this, they will, if they don't, a comment will just feel forced and fake and won't necessarily be genuine.

Also, they're still people and with situations like this there's always a chance that somebody's going through something in their personal life and that's why they're not immediately commenting on this. Idk how likely that is, I'm not a Buffy fan and I don't know those people, but it's not impossible.

The “you’re a good person if you say something, you’re a bad person if you don’t” mania whenever something like this happens makes me so uncomfortable. I get why people want to come out with strong statements but we genuinely don’t know what’s going on with these peoples lives, how they’re processing, if they reached out in private etc.

Plus it makes the whole thing read like a spectacle/horse race.

It makes me really uncomfortable too. Kind of reminds me of how everybody kept hounding Jennifer Lawrence about Weinstein.

It always comes with a current of “who was mistreated/abused etc and who obviously wasn’t” speculation which is gross. Even very woke ONTD is engaging in it which just makes me wary.

Charisma took months after Ray Fisher’s accusations and years after Joss Whedon’s wife’s accusations to come out with her story and it is like am
I supposed to view her negatively for not wanting to open her wounds in public immediately???? I don’t like it. ONTD needs to learn that nobody owes anyone a public statement. It’s nice when given but to force it is gross.

Seriously. People can't win. People seem to be more concerned about Carpenter's former costars making statements, than they are about what Whedon did. Truth be told, does anyone really care what Boreanaz or Hannigan or Denisof or anyone has to say? It's likely going to be some generic show of support, especially if this wasn't their experience and then they'll get trashed for not doing enough. Buffy ended in 2003, Angel in 2004 - perhaps they feel as though they have nothing to add to the conversation and want to make space for those who were victimized by Josh to speak out. Or maybe they had a horrible experience with Josh and aren't at a place where they are ready to share.

ONTD doesn’t understand nuance and how hard it is to process abuse. Nobody owes it to anyone to do it a pleasing timetable, and I say this as a person who is currently struggling with outing an abuser.
