Good for her for trying

Every single day I log onto Twitter to see the news I’m reminded how much the US and the world at large doesn’t really give a fuck about each other especially the poor. I mean I knew everyone was selfish but my god.

I mean, rapid testing isn't accurate enough for it to matter imo, and then people would be rapid testing and just doing whatever, that actually might make people more reckless. It's bullshit that rich people think testing twice a week means they can fly everywhere and gather, it doesn't work like that. Some of them even GOT COVID and still don't get it.

My neighbour got covid on the 16th (and was absolutely shocked she got it because she was so careful when she would go have bi weekly lunch get togethers at her friends house with 10 other people!!), thankfully she was sick for 3-4 days while her husband at first tested negative but after a week he was also positive but he also had very tame symptoms (and he still had fever up to 3 days ago) but according to her she now can already leave the house and go get groceries since she was contagious only up to 2 days after she got better... even if her husband is still sick.

It's been- amazing how people claim to be careful with COVID but in reality, are being reckless. Fauci's recommendations are honestly not that complicated, and I don't know why they're lying to themselves.

my dad woke up with a runny nose today and now I'm paranoid... I know it's not a COVID symptom, and he hasn't been anywhere in a week, but still. This whole time, he's been shocked at all the shutdowns, shocked we yelled at him he should have worn a mask when visiting my grandmother (shouldn't have been in her house in the first place, but that's another story), shocked I'm still WFH, keeps asking if my office will re-open soon.

Ugh.

I don't get the mask thing at all. While I don't agree with visiting people, but if you're going to, wear a mask. It literally lowers risk of infection significantly. Not sure where you live but mask wearing becoming a liberties issue is insane to me.

my mom is somewhat mask challenged. She's really good at putting it on in public places/indoors. but she's absolute shit at keeping that thing over her nose. I mean you're 85% there, let's just get it over the finish line. but the over the nose thing is what she chooses to be a boomer about. "I will when i'm near someone" "There's plastic between us, it's ok"

I've seen so many people acting like they are suffocating with it over their nose. I've done a whole workout with a mask on (jogging outside)

I wish the tests were more accurate. I have a friend who had covid a couple months ago. He tested negative, then tested positive the second time. The second time he got tested (and was positive) his wife's test came back negative but they're sure she had it as well and she had the same symptoms that he did.

I think that's less an accuracy issue and more an early detection one but yea this is why anyone with symptoms (or even anyone who has been exposed) needs to just operate under the assumption they have it and act accordingly.

Yeah, my boss had been in contact with a friend who tested positive. They wore masks and were outside and 6 feet a part and my boss had no symptoms but she still quarantined for two weeks and worked from home because she didn't want to chance it. They said it was too early to test so just stay home. It's not that hard to just stay home (isn't that what all of us who are doing the right thing get told by anti-maskers all the time?)

That's the tricky part and why people who think they can just be having gatherings because they tested negative is not smart. I know it's not realistic for people but I wish people would just wear masks all the time if they are gonna be around people (even a small bubble). Again, not realistic.
