my dad woke up with a runny nose today and now I'm paranoid... I know it's not a COVID symptom, and he hasn't been anywhere in a week, but still. This whole time, he's been shocked at all the shutdowns, shocked we yelled at him he should have worn a mask when visiting my grandmother (shouldn't have been in her house in the first place, but that's another story), shocked I'm still WFH, keeps asking if my office will re-open soon.
I don't get the mask thing at all. While I don't agree with visiting people, but if you're going to, wear a mask. It literally lowers risk of infection significantly. Not sure where you live but mask wearing becoming a liberties issue is insane to me.
my mom is somewhat mask challenged. She's really good at putting it on in public places/indoors. but she's absolute shit at keeping that thing over her nose. I mean you're 85% there, let's just get it over the finish line. but the over the nose thing is what she chooses to be a boomer about. "I will when i'm near someone" "There's plastic between us, it's ok"
A lot of it is definitely psychological, which, as someone with anxiety I get to an extent, but my sympathy wanes when you becomes a health hazard. I know my anxiety won't kill me but if I give someone covid it could kill them.
i honestly think that whole thing is just psychological. i do cardio, weight lifting, etc with a mask on and zero times has it effected my breathing or lowered my oxygen levels.
People not keeping their mask over their nose drives me up the wall. Multiple times a day I'm asking patients to put the mask back over their nose because I don't want them near me when they're wearing it improperly.
it seems to have stopped for now, and now he claims he's tired, which is also concerning, but he wakes up every day at 5:30 AM to read the paper... so that has to play into it, right?
ugh idk anymore. I've blasted my parents several times in the last 9 months. If he truly gets it, I'll have even more fuel to go off on them.
I’m here reading this old post and feel so bad for you. How is he doing? I wish parents would listen. Mine are so scared of the virus and still do stupid shit like in person shopping when I told them curbside can help them stay away from people. Idgi.
Ugh.
