I hate the fact that Gary Oldman turned out to be such an asshole because he was one of my fav actors and is probably really good in this. I'm tempted to watch because I really like Fincher's work.

Yeah me too and his movie « Nil By Mouth » is one of my faves, it’s a beautiful tragic film. Urgh why can’t he be a good man.

Apparently "Nil by Mouth" is based loosely on his childhood experiences, and the little girl in the movie seeing everything is a proxy for himself. I don't like to blame people's childhoods for the fuckedupness they are today but...yeah. :(

On another note I'm going to try to find NBM on streaming because I'm due for a rewatch, even though it's a hard film to watch.

Yeah he didn't get the help he needed after that traumatic childhood. And he didn't really try to get help it seems.

Such a shame, he was my favorite part in "The Professional", he was so incredibly crazy and funny in it. Same with "The 5th element". He was my first actor crush because he could play anyone with subtlety. I hate when critics use the word "chameleon" to describe an actor but damn it he really is.

I'll be disappointed forever by him.
