September 5, 2020 Netflix has released first look photos for David Fincher's MANK, his first film since 2014's Gone Girl. The film is written by David's late-father Jack.
The film centers on Herman J Mankiewicz's life as he wrote Citizen Kane for Orsen Welles and the drama surrounding Herman being properly credited for his work.
The film stars: Gary Oldman as Herman J. Mankiewicz, Amanda Seyfried as Marion Davies, Lily Collins as Rita Alexander, Arliss Howard as Louis B. Mayer, Tom Pelphrey as Joe Mankiewicz, Sam Troughton as John Houseman, Ferdinand Kinsley as Irving Thalberg, Tuppence Middleton as Sara Mankiewicz, Tom Burke as Orson Welles, Joseph Cross as Charles Lederer, Jamie McShane as Shelly Metcalf, Toby Leonard Moore as David O. Selznick, Monika Grossman as Fraulein Freda, and Charles Dance as William Randolph Hearst.
The film will be entirely in black and white, with Fincher's Manhunter cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will once again provide the score, this time using 30s-era instruments.
While Netflix did not provide a release date, producer Eric Roth stated earlier this summer it was set for October (but that was said before the Oscar delay and Netflix's Chicago 7 purchase, so it may no longer be the case).
