I know I’ve talked about this here before, but the one that always gets me is the scene in The Big C where the son finds the storage locker full of all the future birthday/Christmas/graduation/etc presents from his mom and Sia’s Lullaby plays over the scene. I’m not even a fan of her music generally, but that song is perfect for that moment, and even now when I hear it I have a Pavlovian response and instantly tear up.

I was literally just explaining this scene to my coworkers this week! It has stuck with me like few other scenes have.

Yeah, same. I liked the show but I don’t remember 90% of it. That scene has really stayed with me though, and Gabriel Basso is so good in it. The way he is confused at first and then his face crumbles as he realises what he’s looking at and the implications of it. It’s just perfect.

This is the second time this week I’ve been talking on ONTD about sad scenes I love - the other day I was blubbering over the ending of Billy Elliot and now this, lol. What is my life.

That scene started with me holding back tears and ended with me ugly crying after the episode had finished. I still tear up at the thought of that song or scene.

I was gonna be mad if that sia song wasn't here but I see Nate instead of Claire so let me actually read the post now 🧐

Edit oh thank god, now let me watch and cry again

This is a really great list!

My favourite is kind of obscure - but the finale of the second series of the 90s serial killer show Millennium played the WHOLE of Patti Smith's song Horses (it's like 7 minutes long) during a climax when an investigator had to face the very real evil driving these killers and it's literally jawdropping television. I remember doing a rewatch with a friend a few years ago and even though we'd seen it when it ran we were still like :O throughout.

My best friend and I were so into this show and we still talk about that finale/song combo. Perfect.

no idea if it's streaming somewhere. it's not listed on justwatch.

it's chris carter's show he did before he did the x-files and stars lance henriksen. it kind of turns into a lame police procedural in s3 but the first two seasons are really amazing horror-tinged serial killer mysteries. idk if you liked hannibal but it's a total forerunner to that.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THIS MOMENT -

Gossip Girl ended as half a hot mess - and frankly existed that way in general - but the early seasons (the first two TBQH) had their brilliant moments and this is one of them if not THE best one. Full queen Serena sequence is here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkKM4f2ydzM) but at 144p lol

Lol to this day I love the subtle glance down by Blake and shaking her head slightly. Also lol at them dating during this

I also love “Apologize” by OneRepublic, it’s my fave GG music moment. Also Beautiful Girls when Blair and Serena take photos near the Plaza, it just encapsulates everything 16 year old me wanted in my life lol

I think a lot of the music was really good and fitting for the scenes in GG- my favorite I think is cotillion with Apologize by One Republic.

Why isn't six feet under number 1 tho

I wanna fight now

Edit: I had to stop watching it bc I started full on sobbing at 30 seconds now. It always makes me cry but with the pandemic idk

mte! I played the clip for a second but immediately knew I couldn’t handle it so I tried to play the song and lasted about 10s. It’s a lot to handle during this pandemic.

I agree. I don't think any song has ever been more perfect for a scene. And I have yet to find a series finale that is better than Six Feet Under.

Mte. Six feet under should be #1! I can’t listen to breathe me without crying. The finale was so perfect but so sad
