They only stay for 2-3 seasons since the revival. Eccelson was only in one season. Even with the earlier actors they only did the role for 3-4 years. Tom Baker had the role the longest.

For some reason I thought David tennant was the Doctor for a really long time idk

It might have seemed longer because he did have the extra year of specials after his three year run, so technically he was the Doctor for four years from what I remember, whereas Matt and Peter both left after their 3 seasons with just one Xmas special to finish things off

Has the writing gotten better? I barely made my way through the last series and haven't been able to bring myself to watch this one. This is making me want to start again, though.
