i wanna say it's up in the air but watch the academy just be like meh give it to the irishman

Nah The Irishman is WAY too slow paced & thoughtful for academy members. maybe if it was just a recreation of Scorsese’s earlier mob movies the academy would love it but it is very aggressively not.

i guarantee a lot of the upcoming ~anonymous oscar ballots~ will be full of people whining about how “The Irishman I couldnt finish it was so BORING”

eeeeee yay @ Parasite and Portrait but oh man, I'm so worried we're gonna have a repeat of last year. Can't give the actual best film of the year both BP and Foreign Language Film (or whatever), for some reason, so let's just split votes and give it to something totally undeserving.

Parasite & Portrait are my movies of the year. I just want to watch each in the theater every week til I die

Marriage Story I found really underwhelming. Adam Driver was good but the only white Adam who deserves to sweep all the best actor awards this year is Sandler.

I was so turned off by Adam Driver in Marriage Story, the particular moment when he punched the wall and ScarJo stumped on the floor. I legit goes wtf???

Everything else it was okay, but god, they were terrible and exaggerated their acting too much.

i think the acting ranged from very good (Driver, Dern) to fine (ScarJo) but the script just kind of... stalled out? i see what they were going for but a week after watching the only scene i could clearly remember was the big argument scene. im in the minority (?) who thought it was really well done.
