The panel on The Real (Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, and Tamera Mowry-Housley) discuss if bookworms are a dying breed. A recent study by San Diego State University says 1/3 of high school sophomores in the United States haven’t read a book (hard copy or digital) in the last year.

Same. Partially because I moved so much that for the longest time I didn’t even have my books, and now they aren’t unpacked. And partially bc how cool is it to take a book with you while you’re driving or doing dishes or ____?

Honestly, I'm hoping every generation would have its Harry Potter or Hunger Games or even Twilight, something that gets young people reading (that aren't life-long readers) and gets them into the habit of reading.

i randomly decided last week to put a bunch of books about werewolves on hold. i'm happy i did this because:

there are a bunch of children's nonfiction books about them. which means the books are shorter and easy to read. which means i'm catching up to my book goal!

all or almost all of the ones i checked out were written by women. so i'm also catching up with my goal of having my books be at least half by women!
