Dumbo was certainly cute, but I have NO idea what it was trying to say about soulless giant corporations taking over and ruining sweet little family businesses or whatever. Was Disney...trying to comment on itself? Blithely unaware of the irony? Both?? It was very confusing. But I remain pathetically in love with Eva Green.

All the positive reviews for The Beach Bum on Letterboxd are making me rage. It's self-indulgent male nonsense.

I went to Letterboxd to see what the rating was there after seeing your comment - a 3.5 for a stoner McConaughey film? I thought the McConnaissance was long over by now.

For some reason I have The Beach Bum on my watch list. I abso-fucking-lutely do *not* remember *why* I added it. I am convinced that I must add some movies onto my Letterboxd list when I'm half-asleep, apparently, b/c I'm often surprised, haha. "I don't remember adding this at all!?" Is sleep-watchlisting a thing?

Anyway, it looks like 95% or more of the reviews are by guys? I guess they are all major bongo fans?

I know....BUT ADRIEN BRODY! I mean, if MMc is going to start making a lot of brain-dead dudebro films now, then please fade into obscurity with Mr. Brody, sir.

It doesn't seem to be blanket infinite goodwill, though, b/c Serenity currently has a 2 out of 5 on Letterboxd, 5.3 on IMDB and is solidly rotten on RT, but maybe Anne's Oscar curse trumps Matthew's right now. Even though Serenity sounds somewhat ridic from the spoilers...I was more intrigued by that one over The Beach Bum since it seemed at least a touch different.

/falls over b/c Hollywood doing something remotely different? Apparently destined to fail. *sigh*

If it wasn't Dumbo I'd be there in a second for the Batman Returns reunion. Oh well.
