I think many people are "fine" with LBGT as long as someone who is part of the community isn't part of their own lives in anyway, shape or form. Once they actually have to deal with someone, that's when the discomfort, anger, disgusting & stupidity comes out.

i actually feel like it's the opposite. the lgbt in their lives are "not like the rest" and those are the ones they reserve most of their anger and vitriol for. not mike and dave from across the street with their clean-shaven faces and gap trousers.
