Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but Paul Tomkins is taking a break from all official writing because of his illness (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). As someone who has bought and devoured three of his books, I feel more than a bit queasy about this, not only because I look up to him as a writer and as a fan, but because it comes as a ( Read more... )

He even had to give up his weekly column on .tv, which is an indicator that he's seriously ill. I guess everyone has their own cross to bear, and ME is his.

You're like 50% of the reason why I'm excited to be in Spain. (the other 50% being related to football and food.)

it´s sad, nonetheless. he is such a poet in what he does.

you are so going to love spain (i hope) that you are going to want to stay here, and someday you will and i can sign you for my future publishing company, and we will make crazy, beautiful, low-budget films together.

but I don't even know how to work a camera so much for my cinematographer dreams, eh?

the problem with wanderlust is that I tend to fall in love with too many places at once, but Spain is powerfully magnetic, and I'm only afraid of letting myself down once I get there.

oh cool, you went to yosemite. i've never been but i've heard it's pretty awesome. :) i hope you had fun. and BARCELONA! i hope you have a GREAT time there. two of my friends went there last year and they said it was brilliant.

and wow, i've never really read paul tomkins religiously but still. that's an awful situation. i hope he gets better soon and returns to writing. it makes me think of a friend of mine whose favorite (fic) writer had to take a break because she got lupus.

Yosemite is gorgeous, but all that nature can be overwhelming if you're there for more than a couple of days at a time. :x Barcelona is eating my brian. skdfs;df

Oh, god. I just read his website this morning and it's such a crush. I really hope his health improves or at least stabilizes. He'll most definitely be missed. :(

I'm very excited about Barcelona for you!

Yeah, he'd always mentioned his ME in books and stuff, but now it's suddenly become this concrete THING. :|

I don't know much about Paul Tomkins, only he writes for LFC.tv but it's sad to know he's so ill. I'd google about ME later.

I wish I could go to Spain someday too. Have you gotten tickets to the match? (:
