Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but Paul Tomkins is taking a break from all official writing because of his illness (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). As someone who has bought and devoured three of his books, I feel more than a bit queasy about this, not only because I look up to him as a writer and as a fan, but because it comes as a ( Read more... )

He even had to give up his weekly column on .tv, which is an indicator that he's seriously ill. I guess everyone has their own cross to bear, and ME is his.

You're like 50% of the reason why I'm excited to be in Spain. (the other 50% being related to football and food.)

it´s sad, nonetheless. he is such a poet in what he does.

you are so going to love spain (i hope) that you are going to want to stay here, and someday you will and i can sign you for my future publishing company, and we will make crazy, beautiful, low-budget films together.

but I don't even know how to work a camera so much for my cinematographer dreams, eh?

the problem with wanderlust is that I tend to fall in love with too many places at once, but Spain is powerfully magnetic, and I'm only afraid of letting myself down once I get there.

let the cinematographer worry about the camera -we will tell them where to point it at & how to make it beautiful.

me, too. although i have never been actually dissapointed (though new york was quite different from my expectations, but in a good way). i can´t tell you about spain, being as it is my country, and though i´m not particularly fond of being spanish there are parts of it i love too much to dismiss completely; asturias & my hometown, as i still think it´s one of the most beautiful places ever, euskadi, which is somewhere raw and ancient and powerful, the elegance of barcelona, and madrid and its apparent ugliness that hides a heart of white, epic stone.

i totally rant.

rant away. ♥

as;fjdlfkj I HAVE TOTALLY PLANNED TO GO TO GIJON, BUT ONLY IF YOU CAN BE MY TOUR GUIDE. also, yes, euskadi seems like something out of a myth. the lure of the language itself is enough. I hope to also visit Sevilla (a friend is studying abroad there) and, duh, Valencia. (please say you'll go to Las Fallas with me; I might die.)

of course i´ll be your guide. actually i´ve been trying to save work days in case i need some weekend to spend with you. Fallas, yes! Valencia is pretty much a bleh city but i have great fondness for it from my visits and i have many friends there. i dislike Andalucia as a whole but i guess the exotic element is appealing for tourists. i don´t know, maybe i´m too much of north girl but i´ve never found the beauty in Andalucia.
