Dealing with grief, it's for the birds
Maybe this is a normal reaction to grief, but I literally DREAD talking to my mother now. I am always tempted to just let it go to voicemail when she calls to see what she has to say first. The good, the bad, and the frickin tragic...
So my dad is feeling a little better, the water around his heart from the heart attack is dissipating slowly but steadily. The 2 blood transfusions have his hemoglobin count up, his white blood cell count is no longer an insignificant number, but.... ::drum roll ( Read more... ) -
Girls in Tech March Mixer - Wait, don't just skip past this....
Most of you have seen this elsewhere, but if you haven't - Girls in Tech Chicago (I am a board member and avid supporter) will be hosting it's first (but certainly not last!) suburban event next Thursday, 3/25, in Downers Grove from 6-8pm. Update on dad, in case anyone was wondering...
So I had a lovely birthday visit with my dad, who is now 64. I really wish I'd thought to play that song for him, that was his favorite Beatles album afterall :) We made a few dinners at home, did a little shopping, had a nice breakfast out, I went to the hospital with him while he got blood drawn and met his oncologist, and spent a LOT of time ( Read more... ) -

Bad, bad news
Just got the call I was fearing for a long, long time. We are apparently at the "cherish every day" phase because his chances are so bad for the chemo working. I'm kinda stunned.

Was replying to CC's New Year's post, and it became a post of its own...
So some reminiscing...
I had some truly bad spots this past year, possibly some of the worst in my life, but they are all eclipsed by one huge, floaty, shiny memory in the center and a whole bunch of satellite memories :)
