"She'll Be Right"

I feel that I've neglected lj recently, but it seems that as always, so much has been going on. Of course, the recent floods have occupied our thoughts a lot, but from all reports, it is hard to tell (on the surface of things) that we had one of the worst natural disasters the country has ever seen. An amazing thing happened. The call went out for ( Read more... )

It's inspiring to see and hear about the response to this natural disaster. Thanks for sharing the news of the aftermath of this flood. As is often the case, we hear of the actual event in the media, but not much about the cleanup and repair. The story, sadly, becomes less newsworthy. The news of the triumph of the human spirit and people working together to bring a city back to life should be trumpeted! Thank you!

Missed you here! HUGS!

Thanks Neil...I was missing it too, even though I did get to read everyones posts.

People are often at their best when faced with adversity and this tragedy has certainly brought out the best in most people. It is truly inspiring and makes me feel very proud.

I'm glad you were able to steer clear of the sharks swimming about in the city streets!

Seriously, glad things are getting better there now!

Yes, well there were a few, along with crocs further north...and don't forget the huge number of snakes and spiders that have been washed along!

Thanks...things are moving along at a fast pace.

Yes this really was an amazing response. Even just as a sign of hope for the many victims, to know that they are not alone or forgotten. My brother went to Kyneton in Victoria this week to help the flood victims there. It seems there is still more damage to come in Victoria.

That's right Greg...mustn't forget the other places that have and still are affected by the floods....let's hope this is the end of it all for a long time.

It is hard to imagine some of the most beautiful places in the city being covered with water and ruined. I remember the walking arbor with flowers, the sand beach, and the small wooden temple. All were only a 1/2 meter or so above the river. I'm told that many of the CityCat docks have been destroyed.

The area you mention was totally under water and the sand beach is one massive mud pit. But they are working flat out to clean it up and will return it to it's former glory. Almost every City Cat pontoon has been damaged or washed away and they say it will be at least 18 months before they will all be fully rebuilt and operational.

She'll be right, Mate!

It is good to know that things are going back to normal and the water has receded.
