Yesung finishes the fourth segment of his tour. It’s exhausting but there’s some sense of achievement buried beneath his lack of sleep and somewhat dizzy mind.

Once Yesung finishes his preparations, he heads to his hotel room for the night.

“I can’t even be surprised anymore,” Yesung declares as he enters his room and his head of security remained against his window with a few personal devices at his liege. “Are you actually streaming my concert?”

“Not at all Sir,” Donghae defends as he lifts his device and shows Yesung the info. “That was while ago, going through your other concerts now.”

“They’re all the same.”

“You enjoy ruining my fun Sir.” Donghae says, “a cruel characteristic of yours that is coming through your interviews. If you wanted to be perceived as likable, you might want to tone that down Sir. And do not face the camera so much.”

Yesung knocks his fist into the man’s shoulder before falling back onto his bed, grabbing hold of his pillow and resting against it. “A part of me is still wondering how you became head of my security. I have so many questions really-”

“Sir, let it be.” Donghae says simply as he sits on the edge of his bed. Yesung opened his mouth but is clasped over by Donghae’s hand. The singer narrows his eyes but the head of his personal security just coolly lets go and stares at him patiently.

Yesung then leans back, arms behind his head. “Must you wear the sunglasses inside at all times?”

“Of course Sir, how else can I sneak glances at you without coming off odd around your peers?”

“I think it’s a little late for that,” Yesung mumbles.

“I have a responsibility to appear professional, I’m aware it’s a quality you’re lacking nowadays but there’s always room for improvement.” Donghae notes Yesung’s scowl. “If you continue to be upset with me, you’ll earn more wrinkles, and that isn’t a flattering look if they aren’t around your eyes.”

“I must be exhausted, that sounded like a compliment... somewhat.” Yesung then groaned, massaging his temples. “Debuting in Japan is really going to be exhausting... I don’t even have the language down.”

Donghae says something and Yesung blinked, “What?”

“You really don’t,” Donghae returns in Korean. He reaches for his notebook and a pen, “Clearly, that is priority one, even the forums misjudged you as being fluent in at least three languages,” and returns his notebook to his jacket.

“Three? I barely speak my second.”

Donghae tilted his head and grabs his notebook again, “Must clear up the misunderstanding, defeats priority one... No, personal instructing Yesung on the grasp of the language is priority one.”

“I have my own personal tutor-”

There’s another struggled sound from Donghae that puts the singer off. “Priority two, remove ineffective tutor.”

“He’s doing a good job! Ever thought I’m just a bad student?”

Donghae is silent for a moment and Yesung narrows his eyes, “I am not reconsidering that concept, I’m too old for that.”

“I thought those photos were quite nice.”

“I thought they were- wait! How did you get those photos? I threw out that concept a long time ago!”

Donghae blinks and turns his head away, “Sir, we are sidetracking from the true subject at hand-”

“I thought those photos were destroyed and buried.” Yesung mutters.

Another odd sound escapes Donghae’s throat, “oh your humor Sir, the best part about you really. You’ll definitely do well abroad, with your new albums coming up, new photoshoots, potential collaborations- I really need to sort out my finances.”

“My manager is thinking we should postpone it for a bit.” Yesung corrects.

The notebook returns swiftly with pen at hand, “Priority three, remove ineffective manager-”

“Leave him be!” Yesung and pushes the notebook away, only reluctantly did Donghae did so.

“Your manager is beneficial, smart with most of your career... he shall be tolerated for now.”

Yesung shook his head and felt the cold reach his hands, he moved them beneath his shirt and looked at the ceiling fan. “I happen to agree with him, for now.” Yesung quickly defends himself, “It happens to be a scary, almost intimidating thing for me. The idea of starting over again? Now environment, new music, I thought I was long over my rookie days...” He exhaled, he actually felt better. “That felt good to get off my chest.”

There’s silence and Yesung blinked, that was a first. The puzzled artist turned his head, only to see Donghae’s trail of vision leading straight to where his revealed stomach was.

Yesung glowered. “Eyes up here!”

Donghae redirects his attention to him fully. “Yes Sir?”

Yesung took off his sunglasses and Donghae remained unaffected, but with an arch of an eyebrow, he sees the former agent’s eyes dart to that area quite often. Then the head of security proceeds to pull the shirt down completely.

“Sir, distractions can be deadly in my line of work, I ask you refrain from that around others. When we are alone, you are free to bare as you please.”

“...I’ll keep that in mind...” Yesung says with another shake of the head. “You’re going to protect me over there too, right? No matter what sort of fans or reaction I get? Even if it’s a bad one.”

“Sir, your lack of faith in yourself is almost endearing... a little unneeded, but cute anyhow.” Donghae states, moving his hand to Yesung’s head, patting it in an odd manner. Yesung’s used to it, and closes his eyes, it’s somehow soothing to him now.

He meant to escape this man many times, and now he was suddenly finding it very hard to imagine it without the odd man. Strange, he thought, things weren’t meant to turn out this way.

“I’m probably insane,” he murmurs quietly, feeling at ease with his strongest support beside him.

“Sir, you should sleep now.” Donghae suggests.

“...Why do you still call me sir when there’s no one around?” The singer asks curiously, eyes still closed.

“Force of habit.” Donghae adds simply, the singer arches an eyebrow and waits expectantly, peering up at the former agent’s face.

The man is unexpectedly shy in this regard, Yesung just sighs. “Even though we’ve been together for a while now, you’re still that way.”

“At the moment Sir, I’ll remind you I’m speaking to you as head of your security.”

“Which of them would be allowed to sit on my bed with me like this?”

Donghae is subtly miffed. “No one should be Sir... But there’s people attempting this, are they?”

“Just turn off the lights already,” Yesung orders and prepares to finally sleep. Donghae narrows his eyes as Yesung tosses his sunglasses over the bed and sleeps with his arms behind his head.

Yesung feels his arms near his stomach and waits for the man to settle down with him as they often do during these late nights. (Conveniently, there’s never a spare hotel room for Donghae in any city they go to.) Relaxed, things feel a bit more serene.

Then Donghae says something that kills their mood altogether.

The head of security moves Yesung’s face to the left, “Your right profile really is your more flattering side.”

That earns him a lopsided kick to the chest and right off the bed he went.
