all I can say is that if you don't want to go to graduate school, wait until you do. I went and regretted it, dropping out after getting my Master's degree. Talk to someone you trust about your concerns. And if you want to talk about grad school in general, you can drop me an email at rhianona (at) livejournal (dot) com
The thing is, I'm not sure if I will want to go. And that's bad, very bad. There are no jobs in astrophysics unless you have at least a msters, but you really need a PhD. I was also thinking about medical physics because I know that they need people in that, and you can get a job pretty much anywhere. But I didn't take all the right courses in my first year so that would kind of suck.
I am planning on setting something up with a physics advisor, but probably not until next semester, as I should be focusing on exams right now and not this.
And if you don't mind, I'll probably email you later. Not right away, as I'm not sure I have the time, but in the next few weeks maybe.
Thanks so much. It would definitely help to talk to someone who's been there.
definitely drop me a line. I'm happy to talk to you about graduate school and my experience with it. so you know, I dropped out of a history program, but the principles behind going to grad school are the same across the board.
I was told, and I know how silly that sounds, to embrace the panic and think of it as a friend, and try to breath though it. :s
Maybe you should try to focus on the exams for now and find a way to fix this later. Try to write down all your concerns on a paper and put it in a drawer or something. This way you didn't just shove the problem away but keep it around for when you have time and you still got it out of your head for now. For me it's working this way most of the time :)

Hmm, it really doesn't sound that silly. I know what you mean.
And I definitely can't afford to focus on this now, so I'm going to have to shove it aside until later.
Thanks. :)

You're aceing your courses.
You're earning scholarships left, right and centre.
You're damn good at what you do. Anxiety's normal, so I won't say don't sweat it... but I do think you're not giving yourself enough credit.

I was aceing them last year anyway. This year... we'll have to wait and see. I know that I didn't maintain the 3.8 GPA for sure.
Thanks, I'm trying not to freak out too badly. :)
