Your comments on endogamy/exogamy were good for me to read, because that's the one part that bugged me. I remember a similar setup (boy and girl dating, find out they are half-sibs) from an episode of L&O:SVU, which I felt handled it much better. (Of course, L&O tends to be about higher stakes, so people were being, y'know, murdered for that knowledge, and stuff.)
