In Which I Squee About The New "House." (Spoilers ahoy)

Usually, I keep the TV on when Eric's not home as background noise and company. But not during tonight's "House." Tonight, I was riveted. I was already excited about the episode after reading the TV Guide cover story in the waiting room at the pediatrician's office, but it gave only the merest hint of the wonders that awaited. And, since kassrachel didn't post her usual recap, here's mine:

When Cameron said, "Because I'm hitting it, and it's HOT" I had to laugh. Priceless looks on the guys' faces. I like that Cameron is significantly less annoying this season. Not that I will ever support her slashworthiness with House, of course, but anything that makes a character more well-rounded is a Good Thing.

Damn it, House, why must you get more sexy every episode? It's infuriating.

The casting of David Morse as House's new nemesis was amusing to me after faithful "St. Elsewhere" fan Eric told me about his role on that show. There, he was a liberal doctor raped by inmates after doing volunteer work in a prison; now, he's a scary stalky cop out to get House after an unfortunate incident with a rectal thermometer. (Ass-related issues?) My mother always warned me to steer clear of cops (perhaps because of watching one too many Ray Liotta movies); too bad House's didn't do the same. Yikes!

You might think the storyline about the young lovebirds was a little far-fetched, but you should be assured that it's not. I myself have a young step-relative whose life was ruined in a very similar way, after the guy she'd fallen head over heels in love with and planned to marry turned out to be her long-lost first cousin, given up for adoption at birth. A stirring argument for exogamy if ever there was one--you might want to go a little farther than next door to find love, particularly if your family members like to sleep around a lot. Which mine do. So I generally only date men who were born in states other than the one I was born in. 'Nuff said.

The answer to the Nurse Wendy question was excellent, and most unforeseen by me. Couples who transgress the norms of society were an interesting theme to this episode: Wendy and Foreman; Jeremy and Tracy (in more than one way!); House and Wilson (how about that dirty weekend in the Poconos?) Even the darker combination of House and the cop has possibilities, if you like a little pain and humiliation (and who doesn't, now and again? Eh? Eh? Say no more!)

The last part of the episode was chilling (hey, how long was that guy waiting there? There's no other crime in New Jersey?) but that close-up to end it was oh, so tantalizing in that heroine-tied-to-the-railroad-tracks sort of way. After all, in the real world House would have faced some sort of karmic retribution (and/or lengthy litigation, perhaps in a "Justice" crossover) long ago for his actions, so it will be interesting to see how he gets out of this one.
