OMG. That's horrible. You're not asking them to come because you want them to be Jewish (or, horror of horrors, stepping foot in that place will somehow turn them) - you're asking them to come for *you*. I'm so sorry that they don't see that.

I think it's wonderful that you're doing this - it takes so much dedication and commitment. I wish I were anywhere nearby - I'd come and be your honorary family.

Thank you! That really means a lot to me; I've been lucky enough to snag some terrific honorary family members over the years. *hugs*

I'll be thinking of you too! ^_^

I went to the beach and talked to some friends about it so I feel a little better now. Thank you! *hugs* It means a lot to me that my friends all support me in this too.

Oh, honey, I'm so sorry they're being like this. The problem is theirs, not yours; this is their stuff, and in the end they're the ones who are going to miss out. But I recognize that that may not be especially comforting in this moment.

I wish I could be at your bat mitzvah, and I can't wait to hear all about it. Kol hakavod (all the honor) to you for doing this -- I am so, so proud and impressed and awed.

I know you're right, but it still sucks. I think I lost a lot of respect for her and Eric's dad today. And I'll still have to see them at Hunter's birthday party the following week--that is, unless there will be too many Jews there for their comfort. >_<

Thanks for your kind words; love as always.

The problem is absolutely theirs, and it's sad they can't look past different beliefs to stand by and support you on such an important day. I agree with what everyone else has been saying: don't let it ruin the day for you. :)

I know, right? It's like they JUST heard I was Jewish. I guess they're afraid of getting their souls all dirty or something. Grr.

Yay Jew candle! ^_^ Thanks for the support! I'll be thinking of you too. *hugs*
