I'm 100% serious; my brain has been torturing me with psudo scientific explination of where the extra gallon went. Thank you for ending the torment.

If he might have been sneaking beer, has he been ogling the cat in unusual ways lately? I'd love to know what beer goggles do to a hyperactive dog...

while drinking unmade beer might explain the noxious stank that creeps forth from her hanus, id honestly expect her to sleep more

If you have a 6.8-7 gallon fermenting bucket like me, 5 gallons should be right to the spot where the bucket ends and the rim begins. If your 5 gallon measure put you anywhere other than that, you either have a totally different bucket design, or you've found your culprit. Either way, topping it up and letting it sit in secondary for a touch longer than you originally planned should still yield the results you're looking for, and give everything time to mix together properly.
