Things to do in Brighton

Oct 29, 2009 00:06

Hello lovelies.

I'm going to Brighton with reddragdiva this weekend, and I'd be interested in suggestions of things to do in the day and on Saturday night. I definitely want to visit the beach and possibly pier, have a look around the Lanes. I've been to the Pavilion before, and it's such a mad place; may want to show it to D ( Read more... )

D'oh your coming down this way right when i'll be up in london for the weekemd!
I tend not to do touritsty things in Brighton because kind of too close to home.
The sea life centre is really quite pretty but pricey. They don't have dolphins or anything else that would be unhappy in captivity.
If you like chocolate Chooccywoccydodah's salon du chocolat is a must.
Both the lanes and the North laines (no i've never worked out why they are spelt differently) are good for wandering around.
I like Hove museum because it has a contemporary craft gallery and one about toys. And it has a lovely tea shop. Brighton Museum is good for costume and anthropology and even has a small area about body art, and quite a bit of LGBT stuff. They are both open on sundays which is handy ( ... )

I'm glad you replied :-)

I wasn't looking to be sociable with friends this time, want to concentrate on me/D in a fun environment.

The chocolate place looks interesting, but their website is *awful*. So many distractions from the text!

I may be interested in some of the other things you suggested, will see how much energy I have and what D wants to do.

Hello lovely

Lived in Brighton on and off for many years. Haven't been back for a while but the Duke of York cinema is well worth checking out. It's just off the London Road - ask anyone and they will point you in the right direction. Not far to walk from town centre.

Most of the pubs as you go down straight to the sea from the main railway station are a bit horrid to be honest (at least last time i was there).

North Laines for shopping, tho' some of the poseurs who were about there when i was there last made me want to puke. Pricey.

Thanks.

I know Brighton a bit, have been there a dozen times or so. I like the cheesy hippiness of the North Laines, it reminds me of being a teenager.

I don't think I'd be keen on going to pubs, particularly not on a Saturday night.

Absolutely about the birds on the pier. It's weird, but good!
