Notes/Warnings: I was poking around, looking for drabbles to remix and this one caught my eye. (BTW, I want that eye back!)
"Hey, squirt."
Colby screwed up his face, not believing his eyes.
"Dad? What are you doing here?"
"I think it's more important to figure out what the devil are you doing here? You know ain't your time."
Colby squinted at his father, glad of the company, but confused as hell.
"How am I seeing you?" he asked.
"Doesn't matter, squirt," his father said gruffly. "What's important is you getting your hinney back where you belong."
"But I miss you, Dad!" Colby blurted
"I know, Colb," his father's familiar grin flashed.
Colby approached and his father clasped his shoulder. Colby returned the gesture, feeling a surge of warmth.
"I don't have a place where I belong," Colby said sadly. "Not anymore. They don't want me back."
"I was afraid of this," Colby's father said sadly. "That you'd want to stay with me."
"I do." In that moment he wanted nothing more than the safety and comfort that would come in his father's company.
"But you can't, squirt. Not yet, anyway." He stepped back, but the warmth of his hand remained, ghostly and fading as he faded.

"Charge to 360!"
"Clear!"
Colby's body arced off the deck and his heart beat again.
