Discovered today that a band I remember from University, The Nivens, not only weren't a one-term wonder, but were actually big in France in the late 80s/early 90s. I was listening to Dusty in Memphis, specifically the famous track Son of a Preacher Man. It then occurred to me: David Tennant's father is a minister, isn't he?

Thought so.

I finally tracked down a song I'd heard a few times on Pandora. I'm in a little in love with it. It makes me think of Ten II, finding himself on Earth and starting a new life with Rose. And also, alternately, of Ten coming out of the regeneration and recuperating at the Powell Estate.

I was on a country highway today, just ahead of a downpour, scanning through radio stations, when a country song came on.  The chorus had something to do with "the Playboy of the South-Western World".

I'd been reading Yeats all morning for a project and thinking that life was lately devoid of grace.  That one line made me so happy.
