How does your brain create an OTP?

This question has actually been floating around in my head for awhile. Probaby since poisontaster mentioned something about no longer writing really writing j2. And certainly her AKB verse is a compelling reason for jeffrey/jensen. not_refined has managed to sell me on that as a pairing once or twice as well. I love both these stories, but they create some weird

Hmmmmm your brain fascinates me. Like, a lot. My only real OTP (that I would choose over all others hands down) is Sam/Dean and I suppose it's obvious why, haha. I just love all the history, and the wrongness, and the us-against-the-world thing. I guess that's what I really NEED to have in an OTP - a sense that the rest of the world will never understand, so it's always a little exciting even if all that's going on is the boys sitting at home, eating pie and putting up curtains.

Because I'm screwed up like that! :D

I like your brain because you think about stuff like OTPs whereas no one else I've ever spoken to has brought this up, but I think it's a very interesting point! :) Why do we fall for the pairings we do?

I guess I don't have OTPs in anything really... I would always pick Sam/Dean over any other pairing ever but I'm still willing to see them with other people and I kind of like messing around with them like that.

Although at the moment I'm writing a fic which kind of says 'Sam and Dean are meant to be forever so GET OUT EVERYONE ELSE TRUE LOVE WINS!'

I apparently imprint on my OTPs like a baby duck - the first one I see is it for me, forever. I have no interest in other pairings, I don't care how highly recommended the stories are. If it's a TV show I watch, I latch on to whatever couple has the most chemistry, even if they never get together and/or are with other people on the show. It will be Kate/Sawyer forever for me on LOST, no matter what. I'm shipping Sheldon/Penny hard on Big Bang Theory, but most fans and TPTB don't see it. Oh, well, I'm OK being part of an enthusiastic little fandom
