Hard to say. I would probably discount evolution, because it's ridiculous to think it could happen so fast, but... well, their bite turns you into something as big as a tanker.

That's my best guess at this point. Though the question arises who and why.

I also originally considered evolution, then discarded it, and then picked it back up, because that seems to be the most logical option - well, as logical as things can be around here, anyway. That, and I seem to have hit a wall regarding the analysis of these creatures, so I might just be desperately cleaving to the least implausible explanation. Either way, I'd be interested in discussing these developments with you further, if you wish.
