OKay, earlier today I left a comment on a friend's LJ, basically wishing her a good time at the fan convention she just arrived at, and asking her to say hello to 'the gang' for me, especially Peter if he was attending. A little bit of background: several years ago I was fairly active fannishly in several different fandoms, most notably Real ( Read more... )

Hmmmm, and just what drugs do they have you on for your injury? :-D

I'm kinda missing MediaWestCon, too. I haven't made it for the last three years because of commitments with the Boogie Knights, but I used to love it. I miss seeing the old RGB crowd and the SG1 crowd and the KF:TLC crowd and the ...

And, of course, you, roomie.

And it was the only con that I could take my dogs to. Nea says half the time they don't recognize her now because she doesn't have either of the dogs with her.

Vicoden and Ibuprophen, why do you ask?

*snerk*

I have this vague memory of some fannish comedian doing a routine about s psychic reading the mind of a main character: keeps bumping into old steamer trunks and ceiling beams and it's dark and full of cobwebs and it echoes....

Kinda like one of Leah Rosenthal's cartoons of Cally from B7 and Daniel Jackson (SG-1) wearing stickies on their foreheads "THIS SPACE FOR RENT" --

*tries to remember other SF or fantasy TV characters prone to having theirs minds 'taken over' by the alien/psychic/mutant/demon du jour*

I have hopes of some day being able to return to MediaWest, possibly with Daughter in tow; she'll be 18 this year, 21 in three.... she likes anime, I'm sure she could find SOMETHING of interest!

Miss you too, 'roomie' -- hug da keeshies for me!

Blues Eyes! CLUELESSNESS ATTACK!

Seriously, I've wondered once or twice if we've unknowingly crossed paths in the past; I attended MWC fairly regularly during the late '90's -- last time was in 2001. As I recall, memberships fill up pretty quickly and are usually sold out by January....

I'm sure you already have ideas on how to bring 'Uncle Jamie' back into Ryou's life -- mine involves a life-threatening bout of pneumonia and a plate of cream puffs (reportedly Ryou's favorite dessert). Wanna brainstorm?

Okay.....further on down the line in my AU, some shit happens that results in both Seto and Ryou taking an unexpected swim in mid-December Domino Harbor; basically they end up rescuing each other and Seto builds some major TRUST with our pale-haired Brit. They aren't together yet, but they aren't still at odds with each other anymore either ( ... )

I'm reminded of my newlywed days when Hubby and I went to some cons in Champaign, Il. We called them "Sweat Cons" because the air conditioning was always broken at the hotel. Met Sylvester McCoy,(7th doctor, going WAY back here!)at the last one. He was lots of fun!

How was "Prince Caspian"? I'm thinking of taking my kids to see it this weekend.

"Sweatcons", huh? I remember a few like that myself! Somehow we never got to any of the Chambana cons; Windycon and Capricon in Chicago, and Archon in St. Louis a few times... I dragged my husband to St. Louis for "Brits in Space" one year (late '80's)and we shared an elevator ride with Jacquelyn Pierce (Servalan, Blake's 7) and 'Sergeant Benton' (Doctor Who). It was an interesting experience!

I felt Disney did an excellent job with both "Lion", and "Prince Caspian", and I can hardly wait now for "Dawn Treader"! There are some very grim moments in "Caspian" --Peter in particular has to make a very harsh decision during one of the battle scenes and then face the consequences later... heartbreaking... If your kids are under 12, it might be too grim for them.

That said, there are also some wonderful "YES!!!" moments -- I won't 'spoil' you other than to say there are changes from the book, but overall I'd say they were effective and for the most part beneficial.

Have fun!

Mary

Thanks for the warning on "Prince Caspian". Oldest is 11 and rather sensitive, "Bridge to Terrabithia" had her (and others)in tears! Maybe "Speed Racer" would be better?

Also, is it okay if I friend you?
