(crossposted from avengerkinkIt seemed pretty obvious in The Avengers, during Loki's speeches about the freedom of obedience, how humans crave being ruled and the lure of choice keeps them from true happiness, as well as his furious rant to Natasha about how the blood on her ledger could never wiped clean...it seemed pretty obvious a good chunk of that was self-directed. He also looked kind of happy to me to be going home in the very last scene. He would never choose to return on his own, but it's himself and the choices he knows he'll keep making that he's afraid of, it's himself he can never be safe around, and he wishes there was someone to just take his power, his freedom, away, so he could stop making these choices that only leave him more and more hurt and angry and alone ( ... )

Seconding. And that explanation- really, really makes a lot of sense with the way and the fury that he was lashing out with.

This is perfect, perfect, perfect. Your Loki voice is just, urghhh, TOO good? Everything I was hoping for and more, a coiled up ball of desperate self-hatred and terrified rage, with confused, earnest Thor looking on in perplexity...I can't get enough and I have already reread both parts about 8 times so far. I would live in this story if I could, thank you SO MUCH for writing it!

Thank you for the prompt! I honestly didn't know how much I wanted to write something like this until... (laughs) Funny thing is I have another post-movie fic set in Asgard but it's steeped in Loki's hatred and confusion with Thor punishing him (sexually). Lines blur sometimes but I do like exploring Loki's psyche. I'm glad you like his voice here, I was struggling with how to make the narrative transition. :D

Excellent! You have vividly captured Loki's rage and despair and hopelessness. I can easily picture him saying these things, post-Avengers.

Where's your other fill on the meme? can you post a link to it? (I might be following it already; problem is, I've got like a gazillion Loki bookmarks now & it's getting hard to track them all!). Thanks!

Thor hesitates only briefly before he moves towards Loki, ignoring the flash of hurt running through him when Loki stiffens at his approach, seems to tense as if ready to flee. All the trust they shared in the past has faded with the flaring of Loki’s anguish and the betrayals wrought between them both ( ... )
