I really wish I could just sit down and write for a while. I've got a story or two to get out, with some fairly good opening sentences. It's the sentences after those though that count the most, right?

I've been slowly reading and savouring Cormac McCarthy's novel Suttree for what has seemed like ages, but in actuality has been close to a week. I remarked to Jinnia that there's too many pages and too many words on said pages. If you've ever seen someone wrestle an alligator, then you've seen me this morning trying to wrangle a cat into a carrier for a veterinarian appointment. Death rolls and claws and growls, I've got the wounds to show for it as well.

So you're telling me now that I'm low on cash, that all Criterion Collection DVDs are 50% off?

Just take my money... hell, take the wallet and both my debit and my one credit card. I won't be needing them for a while...

I've been pretty good in playing the role of reluctant homebody lately. With Jinnia loaded up with a full schedule of classes and work, away doing projects with classmates and meeting in libraries helping exchange students perfect their English (Ohio-accented colloquialism, I'm guessing), I find myself doing menial tasks when they come up.
