Wow, I think I may actually have to put in some work in my personal life this week. This is a terrible idea! 1)Unless your journal is Friends-only, it can be perused by anyone going to www.livejournal.com/users/username (and for any of the tard-enhanced out there, "Friends-only" means that people you chose to be on _your_ friends-list can see the entry. If someone random adds you to theirs, but not vice-versa, the unwelcome "friend" doesn't see jack.
2)This seems to be a case of good intentions by dumb people. Your "friends-of" list isn't really a list of people who claim to be your "friend", it's a list of subscribers. If you really want to limit who can and cannot read your entries, see #1 above. Otherwise, what, other than the label of "friend", makes having someone you don't want reading your journal? LJ has plenty of protections already in place for journalists, I know most of them first hand from having them used against me. What specific problem will this system solve that hasn't been solved better already?
But.. why mysogynistic rage? It seems like it would be an equally totalitarian, 'I decide what's good for you and can't risk being tainted by your presence looking at me' idea from a male as from a female.
And... I agree, why rage for that matter? Pity, faint amusement tinged with disgust, renewed faith in the lowest common denominator mentality, these are emotions that would make sense... but rage?
Remember, anger is a secondary emotion, look to the true emotion behind it.
I'm fairly certain that I did... unless there's an actual post on your page that you're referring to that I can't see somehow.
But, no, for the mysogynistic part, I don't see this as from an inherently feminine source. And as for the rage part, I stick behind my original, other emotions are more self honest and appropriate.
I mean, I do agree that the idea of someone else having you listed as a friend somehow soiling you personally is, well, extremely silly at best.
"Oh No! That person lists me as a friend! I'll never feel clean again until it goes away."
I may never be able to understand why people think that someone elses actions truely affect them like that, especially considering that anyone can do it, anyone can read posts that are not filtered in some way, and that such filters do exist... I'm not even sure what the point of wanting to try is other than an intense need to control other people. Which, you must admit, the sheep of the world do want someone to do for them.
Okay, I'm PMSing, sick, and quite frankly much dissapointed whenever I go to check my e-mail and see little comment things and all the comments turn out to be are the back and forth things like this.
Nothing against either of you, but no more. You could perhaps hash it out over IM, e-mail, or maybe even on an actual battefield with swords and blood and yummy gore...but noooo more, please....

Truth be told, I prefer long written letters even if it's nothing but useless information that makes no sense at all....
