"Why am I telling you this? The only thing that you've ever lost is a fee"

Poor Luke continues to experience A Series of Unfortunate Events, the latest of which includes getting some information about his missing father. He's told that Damian was last seen unconscious on the deck of a freighter, that his body was most likely washed overboard, which almost certainly killed him. On top of all this, the Worst Boyfriend Ever ( Read more... )

Seriously! The fact that Luke is still able to function in the world is really pretty impressive!

As usual, I'm on Lily's side. She has every right to be worried about Damian and to think that something v.v. bad has befallen him. Ugh, Holden. Ugh, I say.

I love the way Noah says to Maddie re: Luke, "He's become a huge part of my life." Well, DUH. Don't sound so surprised, douche. YOU'VE BEEN DATING HIM FOR YEARS. I should bloody well HOPE he's a huge part of your life. And Reid just said he wanted Noah to keep Luke away from Reid. So, you know, don't bring Luke to your consultations, etc. Noah's acting like he can't even utter Luke's name! He's totally twisting Reid's edict about not wanting to see Luke (the neurosurgeon doth protest too much) and using it as the perfect excuse to keep Luke away from him. Ugh.

"If we're ever going to work later on, we have to stay apart now." Right, so YOU'RE APART. LUKE IS NOT YOUR BOYFRIEND. Just checking. :|

Reid lets her know he doesn't think very much of someone who would balk at the opportunity to save someone's life.ITA with Reid. Yes, the bone marrow thing might be painful. Get over ( ... )

I agree with you on the bone marrow thing. It was one of these small moments where Reid shows how honest and practical he is...especially compared to all the silly, emotionally manipulative demands of Noah and Holden in contrast here. He is so the voice of reason!

Yeah, I have no patience for Katie's line of reasoning re: it might hurt, and Jacob's only a baby, etc. He'll survive -- and the same wouldn't be said of Liberty if she didn't find a match.

Although I can't remember now how she recovered and if a match was found or if she just did the chemo, etc. But regardless, the point remains. If you can save a life, you do it! AFAIK, the risk to bone marrow donors is very small. It's not like donating an organ. Getting bone marrow removed is just painful. But it's temporary pain, so suck it up.

Me, too. I know a lot of people don't like Lily very much, but I think she's a MUCH better parent to Luke than Holden (the way they each reacted when he first came out to him being the one exception to that rule).

ITA with Reid. Yes, the bone marrow thing might be painful. Get over it. Liberty's life is on the line! Sheesh.I know! I mean, I would understand Katie's reluctance if Liberty needed one of Jacob's kidneys or a piece of his liver or something -- that's serious surgery with major risks. But this? I'm far from an expert, but from what I understand, the main "complication" involved is the fact that it is pretty damned painful. But compared to Liberty's life, what is a little pain ( ... )

I agree, I think Noah absolutely -did- convince himself that Reid told him to keep away from Luke, because it was convenient for what Noah wanted anyways.

Also- I like how Reid and Luke are similar yet different in the approach to helping people. When someone needs their help, both Luke and Reid will put aside their own feelings to help. Luke, however, sees emotional support as far more important than Reid does- Reid is more focused on the physical aspects. Before The Death that Never Happened, Luke spent a long time convincing Katie to do almost exactly what Reid did here- get over herself and go to the hospital to support Chris. Yet in Reid's opinion, if Katie needed all that convincing, she didn't need to be forcing the issue and it was better for her to just stay away.

I never thought of that...interesting to see them as alike in their need to help people. I'd go on to say that they both are stronger than other people think. Luke is always being seen as weak and needy, but look at all the crap he gets here and how he manages alone...Reid will be the one to try and help him - be there for him at the station - not Noah. You can see Reid really listening to Luke at the end of their scene here about his father. Yet everybody thinks Reid is emotionally lacking and Noah is so great - blah!

Re: Jake and how he played blind -- I've read that he claimed that he'd been directed to play it that way by the directors, and that he had not wanted to play it like that himself. I say claimed because for some reason I don't buy it. But I'm a meany-pants, so that might be why.

No, you're right. He was told to look away by directors. You know why? Because at first when he started to play blind he kept looking the other actors in the eye. He's such a bad actor that he couldn't find any middle ground, apparently. O_o
