TV by the Numbers:  Are Angry ‘Stargate: SG1/Atlantis’ Fans Partly To Blame For Lousy ‘Stargate: Universe’ Ratings?

I love his take on it, which is summed up by saying "Executive producers and show creators can (and do) play 'Fan Excuse Bingo' too" then uses the latest Brad Wright Quote of Gold, then adds, "Bingo!" The comments are interesting, ( Read more... )

I was most amused by the description in the comments thread of BW and JM's 'howler monkey behaviour', which pretty much sums it up for me - please, guys, stop showing your arses to everyone, it's not big and it's not clever! ;)

Brad and Joe just haven't learned anything in all these years, have they? That and they still think any success is All Them, and any failure is someone else's fault--and probably someone else who hates them and is doing it deliberately.

I hope that SGU goes down in a flaming ball of gas. They don't deserve to have a Stargate in their studio; they should have been made to turn the show running and writing jobs over about ten years ago. We might then be watching a whole Stargate channel!

If the Stargate franchise ends with SGU, I'd be sorry...but only because it ended with such a whimper. If the franchise were to continue, I'd only watch it if Mallozzi, Wright and Cooper were long gone and banned from ANY type of input. Because they will continue to make the same mistakes. Morons.

Oh, they've definitely learned, but only what you said -- success is their own, failure is someone else's problem.

The thing is, they've left an online paper trail showing how hateful they are to their own audience. I know that as a creative person it hurts to hear critical commentary, but no matter how well-thought out and level-headed the critique was, they couldn't take it. Or rather, they seem to have taken it personally.

How's that going to look to future employers? Or will it be overlooked as part of the creative mind versus those nit-picky fan creatures?

Like you, I'll be sorry Stargate ends with a whimper, but it was whimpering for a mercy killing for quite a while before SGU arrived. Another sad thing is I've seen some of Wright's work prior to Stargate and it's not bad. I just don't think he has it in him to keep working in the Gateverse anymore. That well is dry for him.
