Easter Weekend

We Had a pretty busy weekend. Saturday morning I woke the kids up at 7am to head to the local grocery store for their annual egg hunt. Jamie's age group was going first and it started at 7:30am. He had so much fun and this was his first year of really understanding how it works. He did great, finding over 100 plastic eggs! (which of course were all ( Read more... )

See, you and ellyssian work so hard for Easter. my tradition was an empty basket and a jelly bean trail from the kids' beds to the bunny loot, not too far away; the loot was chocolate of some sort and maybe a toy or two. Later, at me mum's, we had the egg fights and then my dad had an egg roll contest for anyone under 21 or not much over 5ft tall. Dad would place 3 loser eggs about a foot away from a small slant board. The kids lined up, littlest first. Each had 3 more loser eggs and they would roll 1 egg at a time down the board hoping it would hit one of the placed eggs. Each hit earned a dime. You could play as many times as you wanted until the dimes ran out. You'd be surprised how many over-5ft relatives would stoop down and try for a turn! Sometimes they got found out, but not always. The slightly smashed eggs would roll crookedly thereby giving grown-ups a coaching role on rolling technique. It was not a quiet game ( ... )

And I thought the Easter Bunny made Everett and Deb do a lot of work! Yikes!
It sounds like a lot of fun.

BTW: Yes, eggs get cracked but hopefully not squished during egg battles. My dad used to follow the fights with an egg roll contest. He used a small board propped against something for eggs to roll down toward a target of 3-4 eggs about a foot away. The kids (adults unallowed) got 3 eggs each to roll per turn; to play, they had to wait quietly (my mom's rule) in line. The cracked eggs rolled crazily which made it difficult to hit the target. Each hit earned a dime. The rolling would continue until either the dimes ran out or my mother decided "enough". Clean up was done by the participants ;-)

I'm going to have to remember that egg hunt game for next year. My sister in law does a hunt every Good Friday. What a hoot it'll be if they get stuff filled eggs instead of candy !!! LMAO!!

Yeah, it's a blast. More so for the adults, alot of times the kids get mad. But eventually they laugh over it, and where it's been happening every year now they expect it. Just find anything and everything to put inside them. We do money in some so that helps to make them feel better.
