You know how you can be doing something, and some barely audible voice in the back of your head pipes up exactly a quarter second too late with, "this is a bad idea"?
Oh ouch! Didn't you get a rat bite there a while ago? You need to be more careful of your hands!
(Incidentally, my mom did basically the same thing when I was a kid, with a sharp knife and a nectarine. I remember being hustled off to a friend's house while she went to the hospital, with the vague impression that she'd cut her hand off. We greeted her with much relief when she came home with just stitches and a bandage, and I have always been very careful with nectarines since.)
Ki, I had a similar experience, except it involved my dad, a rusty saw, and a Christmas tree. My mom rushed him away in a truck, and we were left standing on the neighbors' curb, thinking that our dad was dying in the truck. Parents and awkwardly held sharp things lead to scarring moments as children. ;)
Glad you're okay, Nene! And I hope it doesn't hurt too much. :(

*fusses over you*
Now, at least, I have graphic photos to go with my This Is Why We Don't Cut Towards Ourselves lecture.
