How Not to Slice a Kaiser Roll
You know how you can be doing something, and some barely audible voice in the back of your head pipes up exactly a quarter second too late with, "this is a bad idea"?
To wit.
Do not hold the roll in your left hand and slice into it with the giant serrated bread knife in your right. (vice versa also not recommended)
Dun-dun-dun-DUUUUUN... The giant bread knife of DEWM!
The actual cut is right at the webbing between my thumb and fingers, and not so deep as to need stitches, but it's in such an awkward place that it takes all that extra bandage and tape to hold the gauze in place.
Also, I had to do this myself, while bleeding. Given that, it's relatively neat... Relatively.
So in conclusion, always put the target roll, bread, bagel, bun, or other sliceable foodstuff on a cutting board. Even if you are in a hurry and really hungry. That is all.
