Really, I was just going to post some more DH rambling but then I flicked on the TV-

And now I'm sitting here watching the CNN/Youtube debate, and it's got to be some sort of heavenly irony that the first twenty minutes were dedicated to the themes to racism and bureaucracy.

All I'm saying is that while the Potter fandom is once again busy griping ( Read more... )

I can't believe I forgot Fred. *tears* Tonks was worse cause she's been my favorite character since her very first sentence, basically, but still, FRED.......

Maybe they're teaching the simplest lessons that kids need to learn early. And maybe they started being targeted to an adult audience who reached out because they needed to learn too. I completely and 100% agree. I know the reaosn why these books are such a phenomenon are because there seems to be this need in the world for something MORE. I just wish people would get that sometimes you have to make the more yourself.

How've you been, anyway? It sucks we didn't manage to meet up while we were in DC, but such is life. *hugs you* would love to hear what you've been up to!

How easy it is to forget it, to go "la la la la I don't care about *RL*, I want to agonise over Snape instead", whereas the only life we ever have IS real, and HP is just as much a part of it as the neighbour's annoying yapping poodle and wars and family and pollution and friends and bills.

You are so RIIIIIGHT.

We didn't go to the Zoo, it was raining too hard :(
Must go bake now! Lovely chocolate cake! Love you!!

Oh, so very true. HP taps into the ancient stories, which describe the ancient problems and the ancient remedies. I don't know what it's going to take to get the collective will of the people to make some *good* changes. But it feels like we're sliding back into the tribalism of Dark Ages when heroes were desprately needed. No wonder HP is so popular now when we need it most. Thanks for the rant - you're awesome.
