I'd forgotten that having a paid account would give me more icon space.

Note to self: Sort through icons tonight and add more to LJ. Because yes.

Stayed up way late reading homoerotic ebooks. Was pleasantly surprised by "Brier's Bargain" (Bodyguards In Love #1) by Carol Lynne. The main character reminded me a bit of the one in Flowers for ( Read more... )

I haven't read any of her Cattle Valley series.

Checking which books of Lynne's I have read on Goodreads just now surprised me: I stopped reading her Refuge Shifters series because, as you said, "the potential of her stories" far exceeded "the execution." I was curious enough after the first book to read the second, but I had to give up when the writing didn't improve. If I hadn't checked, I'd not have thought that series and "Brier's Bargain" were by the same author.

In conclusion: Do try out "Brier's Bargain", if only for the main character's voice. It's an unusual one, and a brave choice to carry a novella. I think it works, though, which is impressive.

Refuge Shifters! Tell me you got to the magic healing come bath part, at least. ^____^

I've read every CV book, except one, I think. I just noticed I have one on my wishlist that looks totally unfamiliar. Not sure how that happened.

I do not disagree with a single word Meg says about them, but they are still one of my favorite pixie stix reads.

Bodyguards lost me after the first couple. *shrugs* Same with the college athletics or coach series. Some of those are probably fun, but... only so much time and money can go towards candy, after all.

I HAD PURGED THAT FROM MY BRAIN OMG WHY?!?!?! ;____;

How are the CV books? As I said, I haven't read them. But then, I'm a bigger fan of paranormal romance and urban fantasy than straight (ha!) Westerns. Give me a Western with magic, however... Or Jonah Hex, because damn... Or some of the classic films... [/stopping]

I want to read at least a few more of the Bodyguards ones--mostly so I'm filled in enough for #6 (I think?), which many of my M/M Romance GoodReads friends liked. I do hope her writing in the rest is better than in the Refuge Shifters though. *sigh* Such wasted potential in that series.

"Pixie Stick" reads though--good way of putting a lot of the homoerotic ebooks I've read thus far. (Hence my abiding love for LT3 and its authors, but I suppose not every publisher can value story and character over sex scene content. *sigh*)
