I'd forgotten that having a paid account would give me more icon space.

Note to self: Sort through icons tonight and add more to LJ. Because yes.

Stayed up way late reading homoerotic ebooks. Was pleasantly surprised by "Brier's Bargain" (Bodyguards In Love #1) by Carol Lynne. The main character reminded me a bit of the one in Flowers for Algernon--he's mentally handicapped due to a childhood brain injury, but has a beautiful heart. Brier is perceptive enough to know the people who love him aren't being honest with him (trying to protect him through ignorance), and is frustrated by their lack of trust in his ability to be more independent. A times it was uncomfortable for me to read from Brier's POV because of his handicap, but I think it's wonderful that a book like this (ie. homoerotica ebooks, which are often "sex and more sex + lip service plot") made me care enough to be uncomfortable, and to continue thinking about and being impressed with the main character and his voice even the next day.

books & book reviews, icons, i'm a dork
