you'll no longer see them on the computer you're on. if you own multiple computers, you'll have to do it there too. i think. i can't remember if i did it on my my laptop and my desktop.
you can also see my post about it here which might make more sense because i wrote it right after i found it.

Don't know about you, but I never even really notice them. Ads are how companies pay for their crap. Get used to it. Don't like it? It's not that expensive. Big freaking whoop.
