There's some recent case law that's limiting the scope of "safe harbor" for SNS sites like LJ. The courts are finding for liability for social networking sites that allow harassment. In the wake of the Myspace suicide, there's expected to be a push for law regarding minors, and a genuine interest by some lawyers in generating "good" law for all users. I would expect the trend to continue to be to get harassing users off and reduce the risk of a lawsuit as the decisions strengthen the grounds for civil litigation.
