Unfortunately, there was no mention of the new creatures to be found in any of the case files or notes with recent dates. There was a whole hell of a lot on the roaches, though. Henry had been so focused on helping Noah to recover and then reeling from the damn mental connection from their encounter with the things, that he hadn't thought to see if the people here had faced them

Okay, now Kayla was on Henry's side. Whatever they'd faced was trumped by her passion to care for people. A doctor was good. Henry'd have to try and convince them to stay.
When Kayla asked about injuries, Henry almost spoke up about Jason's leg, but the way he'd healed so fast and the conversation Henry'd had with Xander made him second guess that. "No emergencies right now- I'm a half decent field medic, had some training on the job, Santa Barbara P.D., and learned a bit more over recent weeks, but an M.D. would be a hell of a lot better to have on hand. And any supplies you could spare for the future would be appreciated.
"We were just headed back to the house, why don't you follow us back and we can see about getting your re-supplied?" Henry offered.
When Jonas didn't answer Henry right away, Kayla turned and prompted him with her eyes. Jonas still said nothing, watching her with a completely unreadable look on his face

Jason listened as Henry and the new folks talked about going to the clinic for medical supplies. He was content to let Henry take the lead; it seems that the older man was definitely the protective type. What he didn't let on was that he could hear everything the group was saying. He could even smell the fear of the woman, Kayla. When the topic of medicine came up, her fear receeded and he was glad. He and Henry weren't threats to them. Neither were Xander or Noah, though he wasn't completely sure about Brian yet. It was clear she and her companion Jonas had seen some rough times before ending up here in Spencer. He tried to put them at ease by giving a grin and friendly wave when their gaze drifted to where he was waiting.
Henry grinned along, glad to see the transition in Kayla and Jonas. "Only one doctor's office in town. I didn't find much, but I didn't search it with a thought to things being hidden. Should have occurred to me- I must be slipping." He glanced back at Jason, waiting patiently. "House is only a couple miles," Henry added and walked back to his own vehicle.
"Doctor. And, well, I'm not sure if he's her husband, boyfriend, or what. They're pretty spooked, but they're coming back to the house for supplies." Henry told Jason as he closed up the Humvee and started around to the driver's seat.
Jason smiled. He's just a big softie, he thought about Henry, no matter how tough he acts. Didn't even think twice about sharing supplies with the new couple.
"Cool," Jason said aloud, "looks like it's getting to be a regular party. Hey, did you happen to gather any extra sleeping bags or pillows? If not, maybe a couple of us can go out later and look for some. If our group keeps growing like this, three beds and a couch aren't going to be enough. Unless you like cuddling..." he trailed off, giving Henry a wink. Not that he was particularly attracted to Henry, but he liked to push people's buttons. And now that he knew Henry wasn't going to immediately kick him out on his ass, Jason felt comfortable enough to poke a little fun.
Sitting in the driver's seat, Henry had to work hard to not laugh at Jason's teasing come-on, even as he felt redness rising on the back of his neck. Henry should have been used to the idea- he wasn't born yesterday, and Noah wasn't in any way hidden about who he was. But, Noah hadn't ever flirted with Henry, for which Henry was unbelievably grateful.
"How 'bout you make yourself useful and organize the sleeping arrangements. Noah will be able to tell you where to look for things. Just don't spend all your time testing the mattresses." Henry teased back. "Though, if it turns out those two are married or otherwise together," Henry pointed to the vehicle behind him with his thumb, "they get the big bed.
"On another subject, you need that leg looked at by the new doctor? The stitches should probably stay another couple of days but, better to have a professional opinion since she's here."
[Jason] Dang, knew I should have limpednewdawnjasonOctober 25 2006, 22:15:25 UTC
"Oh, well," Jason hesitated, "I'm sure my leg's fine. You did a great job patching it up last night. Thanks again." He wasn't ready to confess to being a werewolf with super fast healing powers just yet. The big guy had just joked with him - now was not the time to weird him out.
"Are you hungry?" he changed the subject, "I'm getting hungry. You know what I could really go for? A hamburger. Maybe one of those big Hardee's burgers with two-thirds pound of meat on it? Geez, never stopped to realize just how dependent I used to be on fast food, huh? What about you, Henry? If you could have any type of meal imaginable, what would you eat?" Jason really hoped Henry would forget about his leg, at least until they had a little more time to get to know each other and the rest of the group.
"If you're sure you don't want the doctor to take a look, I guess it's your choice. Don't blame me if you end up gimpy," Henry advised.
Jason's response to the question about his leg seemed to confirm the suspicion that he was hiding something. But, the fact that he had folded when Henry had gotten just that little bit loud with him made Henry think that Xander was right and maybe he was just someone who was a little different trying to get by. Henry briefly considered asking outright, but Jason changed the subject quickly and deliberately to food- a nice generic topic, so Henry let the man have his secret a little while longer. Noah would probably be asking him soon enough- that kid had almost no willpower.
"I never eat fast food. You know what they put in that stuff? No, if you're going to eat something, it ought to be something worth eating. My favorite meal- nice lean steak, fresh asparagus, baked potato, and fresh fruit for dessert. The right fuel."

"You've said it before. I can't say it?"
"I'm not arguing, I'm just surprised that you agree with me."
"Well, some doctors are weird," Kayla stated. "Other doctors ( ... )
