Unfortunately, there was no mention of the new creatures to be found in any of the case files or notes with recent dates. There was a whole hell of a lot on the roaches, though. Henry had been so focused on helping Noah to recover and then reeling from the damn mental connection from their encounter with the things, that he hadn't thought to see if the people here had faced them
( ... )
Jason tracked Henry's scent from the house all the way to the sheriff's station. He had just had to get out of the house and away from that new guy, Brian. He didn't know why the man had bothered him so much. It's not like he had a prior claim on Noah or anything. But Brian's cockiness seemed so much more agressive than was called for. It wasn't like Jason's own style of flirting. When he flirted, people knew he was just playing. When Brian flirted, it felt more like he was marking territory. Stop it, he told himself, Noah's a grown man. If he wants to make out with the last gay man alive on the earth, he's entitled. Even if that man seems to be an asshole.
He spotted Henry across the street in front of the station loading rifles into his Humvee. "Hey," he called, "Henry, need a hand?"
Henry looked up to see Jason coming across the street towards him. "Henry, need a hand?" Jason offered.
Henry still wasn't sure he trusted the guy, but Xander thought he was fine and Noah seemed to think he was pretty good, too. Henry tried not to linger on thoughts of Jason with Noah- Henry wasn't sure if Noah had been yanking his chain earlier about them having sex, but he could see the sparks between them, so even if it didn't happen this morning, it was probably going to happen soon- Henry stopped himself from following that line of thought any further. Not thinking of a monkey had always been hard for Henry.
"Much appreciated," Henry answered as he pulled open the rear of the vehicle and stowed the weapons inside. Then, he lead the way into the Sheriff's Station.
Jason followed Henry into the station and to the weapons storage locker. "So what's with the stockpile?" he asked. "Looked like you were pretty well set for guns at the house." He could tell Henry wasn't quite comfortable with him yet, whether because of his abrupt entrance the night before or his flirting with Noah that morning he wasn't sure. But Henry seemed to be more of a decision maker than Noah. So if Jason was to stay with the group and/or convince them to go to Haven, Henry was the guy to convince.
